SocialBee's whole idea is category-based scheduling: sort content into buckets like tips, promos, and curated links, and the tool rotates them so the queue never runs dry. Once that machine is running it does what it promises. Getting it running is the problem. The category system wants a real afternoon of setup before any of it pays off.

It is also $29 a month minimum with no free plan. And if you write something new for every post, the buckets and rotation schedules are just more admin. A lot of people leave after realizing they built a machine their content strategy never needed.

Switching away from SocialBee

Export the content out of your SocialBee categories first; those libraries are the real asset and the slowest thing to rebuild.
Decide honestly whether you need recycling at all. If most of your posts are fresh, a plain scheduler will feel lighter and cost less.
If recycling matters, trial Publer; its evergreen recycling is the closest match at around $12 a month.
Connect Instagram in the replacement and give it a week of real posts before you trust it with anything time-sensitive.
Rebuild your active queue by hand. Nothing about scheduled posts or category rotations survives the move.

Is there a free SocialBee alternative?

Not with recycling. And Meta Business Suite costs nothing if you can live without everything above.

Do I actually need category-based scheduling?

Only if you republish evergreen content on a rotation. If you write fresh posts every week, the categories are pure setup cost. Work out which of those you are before paying anyone for a rotation engine.

Can I move my SocialBee categories to another tool?

Not directly. Export your content libraries while you still have access, then rebuild them as recycling lists in Publer or as a plain queue elsewhere. Budget an afternoon for it if your categories are full.
