Connect Gemini to ReelDrop

Google's assistants reach ReelDrop three ways. Antigravity CLI, which replaced Gemini CLI for most people in June 2026, adds the server with one command. Gemini CLI still works for Code Assist Standard and Enterprise. The Gemini app takes a custom MCP server where Google offers it, which today is the US only.

Before you start

  • An Influencer or Creator plan on ReelDrop. On the free Starter plan the connection succeeds but every tool answers with an upgrade prompt.
  • A ReelDrop workspace with an Instagram account connected.
  • Antigravity CLI (agy) signed in to your Google account, Gemini CLI on a Code Assist Standard or Enterprise licence or a paid API key, or the Gemini app with custom apps available to you (see below).
  1. Step 1: Antigravity CLI: add the server

    One command. It saves ReelDrop to ~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json, under a serverUrl field, so it is available in every workspace. For one workspace only, put the same entry in .agents/mcp_config.json instead.

    terminal

    agy mcp add reeldrop https://mcp.reeldrop.io/mcp

    ~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json

    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "reeldrop": {
          "serverUrl": "https://mcp.reeldrop.io/mcp"
        }
      }
    }
  2. Step 2: Antigravity CLI: sign in

    Start agy and run /mcp to open the MCP manager. reeldrop shows that it needs a sign-in; authenticate it there, log in to ReelDrop in the browser and approve. Antigravity registers itself automatically, so there is no client ID to set. Run agy mcp list to confirm the server is enabled.

  3. Step 3: Gemini CLI: add the server and sign in

    Run the command from a project folder, not your home directory: Gemini CLI does not treat your home folder as a project, and the add does nothing there. -s user makes the server available everywhere. Then start Gemini, run /mcp auth reeldrop and sign in in the browser.

    terminal

    gemini mcp add -s user --transport http reeldrop https://mcp.reeldrop.io/mcp
  4. Step 4: Run the first-run checklist

    Ask these four things in a new chat. All of them only read, so nothing changes on your account, and each answer proves a different part of the connection works:

    • "List my ReelDrop workspaces." Your real workspace names come back, not a guess.
    • "Which Instagram account is connected to that workspace, and is the connection healthy?"
    • "How much of my plan have I used this month?" On the free Starter plan, this is where the upgrade reply shows up instead.
    • "When is my next open posting slot?" If no posting schedule is saved yet, it asks for your timezone once and saves it to the workspace.

The Gemini app

The Gemini app can add a custom MCP server as a custom app, but Google limits it to people 18 or over in the US, using a personal Google Account (not work or school) in English, with Keep Activity on. We have not been able to test it from outside the US, so these steps are Google’s, not ours.

Where it is available: on a computer, open gemini.google.com, go to Settings → Connected Apps, and under Custom apps click Add a custom app. Paste the server URL, click Next and sign in to ReelDrop when asked; ReelDrop registers the app automatically, so skip the advanced credentials. Then pick ReelDrop with @ in a chat. Gemini asks before any tool that changes something.

If it asks for an API key

Gemini should never ask you for an API key, a client ID or a bearer token for ReelDrop. If it does, it is pointed at the wrong address: check that the URL is exactly https://mcp.reeldrop.io/mcp, with /mcp on the end. The only client that uses a token is Meta Muse, because it has no browser to sign in with.

Disconnect

Antigravity CLI: agy mcp remove reeldrop, or set "disabled": true on its entry. Gemini CLI: gemini mcp remove reeldrop. Gemini app: open the app’s More details and choose Disconnect or Remove app, or unlink it at myaccount.google.com/linkedapps. Posts already scheduled keep publishing.

ReelDrop is also listed on Smithery and in the official MCP registry as io.reeldrop/reeldrop, so clients that browse either can find the server without you pasting the URL.

Frequently asked questions

What happened to Gemini CLI?

On 18 June 2026 Google moved free, Google AI Pro and Ultra users from Gemini CLI to Antigravity CLI. Gemini CLI still serves Code Assist Standard and Enterprise, Google Cloud and paid API-key users, and the ReelDrop setup there is unchanged.

Can I connect from Gemini in Google Workspace?

Work and school accounts go through Gemini Enterprise, which has its own admin-managed connector setup. Ask your Workspace admin.

Antigravity says the server type is wrong. Why?

Antigravity reads a remote server from `serverUrl` and talks Streamable HTTP only. An `httpUrl` field copied from an old Gemini CLI config is rejected; change it to `serverUrl`, or remove the entry and run `agy mcp add` again.
