Connect Claude to ReelDrop
Updated:
Copy the server URL from the Connect your AI assistant page in ReelDrop, add it to Claude as a connector, and sign in with your ReelDrop account when the browser window opens. There is no API key. The whole thing takes about two minutes, and most of that is Claude restarting.
Before you start
- An Influencer or Creator plan. On the free Starter plan the connection succeeds but every tool answers with an upgrade prompt.
- A ReelDrop workspace with an Instagram account connected, if you want the assistant to actually schedule and read analytics.
- Claude Desktop or Claude Code installed, or any other MCP client that supports remote servers with OAuth.
Copy the server URL
In ReelDrop, open the Connect your AI assistant page. It shows the server URL with a copy button, plus setup tabs for Claude Code and Claude Desktop.
The URL is the same for everyone:
https://mcp.reeldrop.io/mcp
Add it in Claude Desktop
Open Claude Desktop settings, go to Connectors, and choose Add custom connector. Name it ReelDrop, paste the URL, and save. Claude Code is one terminal command instead:
claude mcp add --transport http reeldrop https://mcp.reeldrop.io/mcp
Sign in when the browser opens
The first time Claude reaches the server, your browser opens ReelDrop's sign-in page. Log in with your normal ReelDrop account and approve the connection. This is standard OAuth: the assistant gets a token scoped to your account, and your password never passes through it.
If the window does not open, look for a "needs authentication" note next to the connector and click through it.
Check it worked
In Claude Code, run
claude mcp listand look for reeldrop with a connected status. In Claude Desktop, the connector shows as available in the tools menu of a new chat. Then ask something only the real connection can answer: "list my ReelDrop workspaces". You should get your workspace names back, not a guess.
Set your timezone, once, if asked
Scheduling needs to know where your audience clock is. If your workspace has no posting schedule saved yet, the assistant will ask for your timezone the first time you schedule and save it to the workspace. After that it reads your saved posting slots and stops asking.
Other MCP clients
Any client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP with OAuth can connect the same way: point it at the URL above and complete the sign-in when the browser opens. Client registration is automatic, so there is nothing to create on the ReelDrop side first.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an API key?
No. Sign-in is OAuth with your ReelDrop account. If a client asks you for an API key, it is not pointed at the right URL.
Can I connect more than one assistant?
Yes. Each client signs in separately, and each one acts as your ReelDrop account.
How do I disconnect?
Remove the connector in your Claude settings (or claude mcp remove reeldrop in Claude Code). The assistant loses access as soon as its token expires, and it cannot sign back in without you approving it in the browser again.
I'm on the free plan. What happens if I connect?
The connection itself works, so you can see the setup end to end. But every tool replies that MCP access is on the Influencer and Creator plans and points you at billing. Nothing is scheduled and nothing is read.
